http://www.tylermiro.comLast article was about my feelings and emotions on writing songs. This article will be more about the academic part,structure,etc..
Write a great first verse..I can't tell you what or how to come about this! It's in the soul! Then, if you feel a great hook(chorus) coming on...go for it...if you wait it may disappear. Paul McCartney wrote Yesterday in 10 minutes after waking from sleep. If he waited till ,say after lunch....there may never have been a "Yesterday".
So now you have a great 1st.verse, and a strong hook. Next is another great verse, try to top the 1st! Then reach out on that limb for the bridge! Always a toughy! It has to be far enough away from the rest of the song, yet somehow connected! It's kind of like playing in your backyard, then you go to your neighbors, somewhat different, yet part of the neighborhood! Then you return home.
Now we are ready for the final verse or two. What ever your heart tells you...write it! Then repeat your hook a couple times and you may have a great song at your finger tips!
I love writing epics..huge big ,bold, beautiful songs, such as, "Lord of The Rings", only in a song. I like to give the emotion of how you feel coming out of a movie, such as "Lord of The Rings", when you are done listening to my songs. They are long..some crescendo at the end...they tell a story...they are epics!
Bye for now,
Make a wish!
